Vintage Mohair Coat
Monday, April 16, 2012
This coat is one of those examples of 'clothing potential'. This is what I mean by 'clothing potential': I saw this pastel yellow mohair coat hanging on a rack in a local vintage shop and I loved it right away. I tried it on and it looked like it had seen better days, the lining on one sleeve was detached, one of the two snap closures was broken and the fit on the chest was a little off. I know you are probably thinking, what is she talking about, the coat looks amazing! Well that's because I saw it's 'clothing potential'. I bought the coat which was marked down to $10, yes I said $10 and got to fixing it right away. I first sewed the detached lining back to the sleeve and then I removed both snap closures from the front of the coat. I replaced both snap closures and repositioned them to make the coat fit better on me, then I added a third snap closure as well to prevent gapping at the chest. I am super excited about this lovely vintage coat and I am so happy I saw it's 'clothing potential'! :)
